amy

Amy Weston

Amy studied at the University of Lincoln and attained a 1st Class Honours Degree in Accountancy and Finance in July 2017. During her 3 years of studies Amy undertook work experience, both in industry and within the private sector and was immediately drawn to the tax element of her degree.

Amy says “I was put at ease straight away when I came for interview with

John and Julia and I was particularly impressed when they made the time to show me around the workplace environment – even showing me where my desk would be if I was successful. When I got the call offering me the position I knew exactly where I would be sat which was really reassuring on my first day. I have already started my studies towards the Chartered Accountant qualification (ACA) and I am really enjoying taking part in client meetings and hearing how the case law that I learnt at University is put into real-life practice.”

Jessica Moore

Whilst at Secondary School, Jess always knew she wanted to be an Accountant. Jess opted to complete a 4-year sandwich course which meant that she gained 12 months on-the-job experience into how an accountancy practice works. In July 2017 Jess attained a 1st Class Honours Degree in Accountancy and Finance from the University of Lincoln.

On completing her final year, Jess approached more than one firm for a trainee place and when coming for interview at Wright Vigar she was fortunate to have options.

Jess says “It was important for me to choose a firm that prioritised my training and personal development, but I was also really impressed by the Wright Vigar welcome. I was immediately put at ease in my interview and John and Jo explained not only the ‘formal’ qualifications that I would be supported to achieve, but also the mentoring within the working environment that supports the textbook learning. I am enjoying meeting clients and in my free time I have supported some of the regular fundraising activities that Wright Vigar undertake.”

Luke Quintana Baker

Originally from Epsom in Surrey, Luke moved to study at the University of Lincoln. Having attained a 2:1 in Computer Information Systems in 2016 Luke secured employment within the IT Department at the University and started a 2-year fixed-term contract working on a Student Management project as an Assistant Data Analyst.

Keen to stay in Lincoln and driven by job security and an opportunity to increase his skills within an industry that really interested him, Luke applied and was successfully appointed in a newly commissioned role at Wright Vigar as Technology Consultant.

Luke says “I was immediately struck by the importance placed on cutting edge
technology within Wright Vigar. During interview Simon and John explained the role further and the varied scope of the position, which included the opportunity to work closely with clients to fact find and problem solve including recommending and implementing bespoke hardware and software solutions.”

“Being part of a professional firm like Wright Vigar is great for me as I get to meet some really interesting people, learn more about their business and help and support them with their individually tailored needs – and as a self-confessed technology geek I also have an opportunity to play with some really cool kit.”

“All this without having to leave the vibrant city of Lincoln which I love and now consider to be home.”
