Changes to how Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) is reported to HMRC - Wright Vigar
 In Blog

From April 2016 you will no longer be able to verify your contractors using the CIS telephone verification service, you will have to do this online.

Also from April 2016 you will no longer be sent a paper return (CIS300) to report that no return is due or declare the tax you have deducted from your contractor.

You will still be expected to submit a return by the 19th of every month following the last tax month but you must now do so electronically.

For example, the return due for the period 6th April to 5th May must be submitted to HMRC by the 19th May.

From 6th April you must ensure that you can operate HMRC’s CIS online services. If you do not have access to the CIS online service you will need to register with HMRC to get a government gateway account. Once this is activated, or if you already have one, you can then sign up to the CIS Service.

If you have any questions on how these changes may affect you, please contact Carolyn Cunningham, Payroll Manager at Wright Vigar, by either calling her on 01522 531341 or emailing carolyn.cunningham@wrightvigar.co.uk
