With July income tax payments on account coming up (but deferrable) and with reference to deferred business taxes and furlough claims etc, it is worth reiterating the need for vigilance against automated calls, human telephone calls and emails purporting to be HMRC urging you to contact them.

We have witnessed an increase in these amongst our clients. Some are positively comical, and some a bit more realistic, but there are always signs that it is a scam.

Whilst HMRC does possess telephones and email accounts, they do tend to prefer written correspondence especially when they want to talk to you about the money you may owe them!
