Today the government are introducing new legislation to ensure furloughed employees who are made redundant receive redundancy pay based on their normal salary rather than the reduced furlough rate.

The legislation will only apply to basic statutory redundancy pay entitlement, therefore not effecting enhanced redundancy pay agreements specified in an individual’s employment contracts. The changes also ensure Statutory Notice Pay and basic awards for unfair dismissal cases are based on full pay.
