Team WV shrugged off everything Mother Nature threw at them, to raise more than £500 for cancer charities.

Buffeted by high winds and biting horizontal rain, nine colleagues put their best feet forward with a steely determination to conquer the demanding Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge.

The hikers ploughed their energies into a 24.5 mile circular route, which saw them scale the 691 metres high Pen-y-Ghent, before forging on to tackle Whernside (728 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres). Thankfully they all made it.

The walkers included Jo Richardson, Steph Peel, Matthew Field, Lisa Walker and Jack O’Hern.

Director Jack O’Hern said: “Everyone who took part was eager to do this challenge. Sponsorship money raised will go to Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care. The work they do is very close to the hearts of all the walkers.”

Business Services Manager Jo Richardson said: “We were ecstatic when we arrived at the finish. Everyone agreed that preparing for it by going on training walks in the Lincolnshire Wolds and Derbyshire over the past three months had been a wise move.

“After completing the walk, our team of explorers, celebrated our achievements by tucking into pizza and toasting a great day with a glass of wine.”
