Time to pay self-serve limit remains at £30,000 - Wright Vigar
 In Advice, Blog, News

We would like to remind you that limit for a self-serve time-to pay plan, which was raised during the pandemic to £30,000 tax due, remains unchanged.

If you are unable to pay your 2020/21 self-assessment (SA) tax liability in full by the due date (usually 31 January 2022), you can set up your own time to pay arrangement online if you meet the following criteria:

  • have filed their tax return for 2020/21;
  • owe less than £30,000;
  • are within 60 days of the payment deadline; and,
  • plan to pay your debt off within the next 12 months or less.

If you owe more than £30,000 or need more time to pay, you should contact the self-assessment payment helpdesk at 0300 200 3822.

We urge you to set up the arrangement before 30 days of the due date (usually by 1 March 2022) to avoid a 5% late payment penalty, though the service is accessible for 60 days beyond the due date.

Unfortunately, we cannot action this for you are HMRC only accept direct debit mandates set up by the taxpayer themselves.
